By day, I work at a media agency as a digital research specialist. This is a selection of posts that are related to what is going on in the media industry.
(The usual disclaimers that my opinions don't necessarily reflect my employers apply.)
As well as the things I'm putting here, I've also written for a few other websites
I originally set up the SMG London blog/'content hub' as a site to share our work in the Research team. It then expanded to be a content hub for all of SMG London's news, opinion and thought leadership content. However, following the reorganisation of Publicis Groupe's media agency brands into Publicis Media (and retiring of the "SMG" brand), the site was discontinued.
I wrote some pieces around some research we did around the 2012 Olympics using a Twitter-based social listening tool that I built. Also, some related "traditional" research we did around technology and changing media use was written about in the Radio Times, including some quotes from me about the work. This was probably a high point of my career, in that I think its the closest it has come to something I've done that my parents understand. (A close second would be when some similar social listening work I did made the Manchester Evening News - which my grandparents read. However, instead of using my name, they just referred to "social media boffins", which was something of a disappointment.)
